Philip G. Smith loving husband, father, and grandfather
Olean- Philip G. Smith, of Olean, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (March 26, 2024) at home, with his wife and daughters by his side.
Philip was born March 24, 1943, in Olean, he was the son of the late C. Forrest and Ardell Reeves Smith.
He was a graduate of Olean High School and Williamsport Technical Institute. He married his high school sweetheart, the former Donna Cecchi on January 9, 1965.
Philip began his career at Beckwith Machinery Co., in Pennsylvania. After the death of his father, he returned to Olean, where he worked for several companies. His favorite being Director of Maintenance at St. Francis Hospital. After he retired, his favorite part time job was driving for Rontina’s Hallmark stores.
His faith and love of Jesus was first and foremost in his life, followed by his love and devotion to his family. He was known for his willingness to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughters, Shelley (Jason) Hunter of Clarion, PA, and Deana (Steve) Anastasia of Olean; four grandchildren, Carlley and Caleb Hunter of Clarion, PA, and Cory and Kiley Anastasia of Olean; a brother, David Smith of Canandaigua; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins
Family will receive friends at the Crosstown Alliance Church, 1513 Main St, Olean from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2024, with a memorial service to follow at 12 p.m. Philip’s son in law, Pastor Jason Hunter will officiate, Pastor Eber Kinne will co-officiate.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St, Olean.
