Robert V. Warner loving husband, father, and grandfather

Cuba - Robert V. Warner passed away peacefully Saturday March 2, 2024 at home surrounded by loving family after a long 5-year battle with cancer.

Robert was born December 15, 1960 in Olean. He was the son of the late Robert and Carolyn Roulo Warner. In 1990 he met the former Cheryl Chapman; they married in 2007 at the Portville Lutheran Church. 

Robert was a graduate of Portville Central School. He went on to work for Wayne Paving and Gravel, as a heavy equipment operator, he retired after 33 years there. After retiring, he enjoyed making maple syrup from trees on his property.

Robert enjoyed his many fishing trips, that he and Cheryl would take to Florida. He was known for his love of tie-dyed t-shirts. He was a member of the Coon Hollow Club and the Son's of the American Legion. He was known for being the best Papa Bob his family could ask for and he always found time to spend with the little kids of the family. 

Robert is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of 34 years; one daughter, Meghan (Joe Brotterball) Warner; two stepdaughters, Leigh (Edward) Willover of Portville, and Cheryl (Mark) Childs of West Clarksville; two step granddaughters, Emily (Jeff Buchanan) Long of Portville, and Shantia (Daniel) Taylor of Shinglehouse; three step great grandchildren, Savannah Sullivan, who called him Papa Bob, Quinnley Taylor, who called him Bopa, and Daniel Taylor; two sisters, Jackie (Bill) Urban and Sandra (Jeff) Berends; and many nieces and nephews

He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Carolyn; a sister, Cindy Warner, and a great-grandson Duane Willover. 

Friends and family will be received Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from12pm – 2pm at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main St, Portville. A funeral service will begin at 2pm in the funeral home, with Pastor Bryan Dobney officiating. Burial will be in West Genesee Cemetery in Obi at the convenience of the family.

Memorials, may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
