Alfredo Napoleoni Olean business man
Olean- Alfredo Napoleoni, of the Back Hinsdale Rd, passed away Wednesday (October 18, 2023) at the Olean General Hospital.
Born July 22, 1939 in Maenza, the Latina province of Italy, son of the late Enrico and Giovannina Napoleoni. On June 12, 1967 at St. John’s Church, he married the former Gail E. Davis, who passed away March 2, 2012.
Alfredo served with the Italian Army in 1960, In 1961, he began a 38-month service with the United States Army in the telecommunications field. He was a graduate of the University of Balogna and St. Thomas Aquinas, both in Italy, where he became a lawyer in Italy. He was a renowned soccer player in Italy, playing in the Serie A Soccer League. He played for teams, Lazio and Torino.
He came to America in April of 1964. He worked at the Castle Restaurant and Clark Brothers for a year. He then started the Napoleon Taxi Service. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Olean American Legion Post #530, the Elks Club and Eagles Club. In 1992, Alfredo unsuccessfully ran for the New York State Senate, he was the Democratic candidate for the 56 District. He was instrumental in starting the STAR Program. Alfredo liked to sing and he sang at various places throughout the area.
Alfredo is survived by his nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Gail; and brother, Piacentino Napoleoni.
At Alfredo’s request, no scheduled visitation or funeral will be planned. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean.
Memorials may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice.
