Anna E. Cygan loving mother and grandmother
Olean - Anna E. Cygan, 96, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at Olean General Hospital following a brief illness.
Born July 8, 1925 in Buffalo, she was the daughter of Thaddeus and Anna (Maj) Przybyla. On January 18, 1947, she married Joseph Cygan who predeceased her on January 24, 1981.
She retired from American Olean Tile Company and was previously employed at Fiber Forming and the Stravino Restaurant.
Anna was a member of St. John’s Church and was proud of her volunteer work there. She enjoyed crocheting and was the Word Search “Queen”. Most of all, she loved her family and the time she spent with them.
Surviving are three daughters; Judith (Ken) Heitman, Antonette Fowler, Adrienne (Jerome) Steiner and one son; Gerald (Debra) Cygan, all of Olean; nine grandchildren; Kimberly (Michael) Hess, Brent (Nhan) Cygan, Farrah (Michael) Trembath, Kevin (Jill) Cygan, Jessica (Douglas) Blicharz, Ashley (Jeff) Lieber, Acacia (Andrew Kandefer) Steiner, Selena (Alex) Quintero and Culley (Farah Steiner; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Edward Przybyla of Depew. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by; an infant son, Anthony, and sisters, Joan Ochmanski, Sophia Strumpf and Alfrieda Bucholtz.
Family will receive friends on Monday (April 11, 2022) from 4 to 7pm at the Guenther Funeral Home, 1303 E. State St. Olean. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (April 12, 2022), beginning with a prayer service in the funeral home at 9:30am, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at 10am in St. John’s Church 931 N. Union St, Olean. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
