Beverly A. Van Curen loving mother
Little Genesee- Beverly A. Van Curen of Little Genesee, passed away on Tuesday (October 17, 2023) after a long illness at the Olean General Hospital, surrounded by her family.
Born in Cuba on March 31, 1943, she was the daughter of Bernard and Louise Griffin Torpey. On July 10, 1965, she married Charles “Chuck” Van Curen, who passed away on December 25, 2006.
Beverly graduated from Portville Central School, going on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in English from SUNY Geneseo. She ended her working career as a manager for Dunn’s Drug Store in Bolivar.
Beverly was a member of the River’s Edge United Methodist Church in Portville. Her hobbies were reading, gardening and doing crafts. She loved watching and cheering for the Buffalo Bills and the Buffalo Sabres.
Beverly is survived by three children, April (Frank) Pettit of Little Genesee, Scott (Susan) Van Curen of TN. and Derek (Christina) Van Curen of Angelica; thirteen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Barb Abel, Joyce Gagliardo, Lorie Henton and Dorothy Kinney; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Chuck; three sisters, Bonnie Willard, Bernie Moore and Lou Torpey.
Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main Street, Portville on Friday (October 20, 2023) from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dawn Quesenberry, pastor of River’s Edge United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Bowler Memorial Cemetery in Little Genesee.
