Hinsdale- Bobbie H. Elderkin, of 1110 Oak Lane Drive, Hinsdale, passed away Thursday (January 14, 2021) at his home.
Born August 6, 1938 in Quaker Bridge, he was the son of the late, Rexford and Marie Ames Elderkin. On June 29, 1958 in Hinsdale, he married Carolyn Bennett, who survives.
Bobbie worked for forty-two years for the Pennsylvania Railroad (later renamed Conrail) as a welder. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. Bobbie was a former volunteer with the Hinsdale Fire Department and enjoyed watching Western movies.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by three children; Andrea (Michael) Barton of Zephyrhills, FL., Allison (Greg) Carney of Olean, and Rexford (Bobbi) Elderkin of Hinsdale; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters Cora (Norman) Emerson of Cuba and Elizabeth (Dana) Leet of Port Allegany, PA; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Rose.
There will be no public services for Bobbie. Private burial will be in Hinsdale Cemetery, in Maplehurst and at the convenience of the family.
