Carla J. (Anderson) Hulse

ALLEGANY — Carla Jean Anderson Hulse, of 2022 Four Mile Road in Allegany, passed away Thursday (May 23, 2024).

Born June 29, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Jean William and Christine Nelson Anderson of Fairview, Pa. Carla met the love of her life, Todd Raymond Hulse, and they were married on June 16, 1990, at St. James Lutheran Church in Fairview. Her husband, Todd, survives.

Carla was a graduate of Fairview High School, Class of 1980. She graduated from Mercyhurst University cum laude, obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree double majoring in news editorial journalism and public relations in May, 1984. 

She worked at Mercyhurst University for a couple of years in the public relations department before attending Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn., where she graduated magna cum laude with her Masters of Arts degree in corporate and political communication in 1988.

Carla then moved to Western New York and worked as the assistant director of admissions, and then as director of financial aid at the Cattaraugus Campus of Jamestown Community College in Olean. Carla was later employed by the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services and worked as an employment specialist in Little Valley.

For over 25 years, Carla and her husband worked side by side running their family-owned business, Four T Development, Inc., hence, honoring their motto, “Quality rentals... affordable living.” They owned many apartment buildings, rental units, complexes and houses throughout Cattaraugus and Allegany counties in Western New York. Carla served as president of the corporation until her death. She created Four T Development, Inc., and named the company after their four “T” named children.

Carla will be remembered for her love and devotion to her loving husband, children and cherished grandchild. Loving them was her passion. Memories of their times together will live in their hearts forever. She was always called “Momma” and “GiGi.” She was an excellent cook and especially enjoyed making copious amounts of food for family and friends.

Carla had many passions in her lifetime: gardening, swimming, writing and shopping. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. A beautiful soul filled with sunshine and strength.

She is survived by her husband, Todd; and her four children, son Todd (fiance Brenna Gelen) Raymond Hulse II (TJ) of Hamburg, Trevor (Amanda Fraser) William Hulse of Warren, Pa., Tiffany (Jarett) Christine Yuchnitz of Ashville and Tanner (partner Maura Vossler) Nelson Hulse of Bradford, Pa. She is also survived by the most recent light of her life, her first grandchild, Amelia Jane Hulse. Carla is also survived by her brother, Jon (Linda) William Anderson; and her beloved sister, Christie (Gary) Kay Kulesza of Fairview and Erie, Pa., respectively.

Honoring her request, there will be no service or public visitation. The family will hold a private burial and memorial service at their discretion.
