Olean- Carol A. Calbi, of 480 Indiana Avenue, passed away Monday (December 19, 2022).
Born May 5, 1941, at her parent’s home in Belmont she was the daughter of Carlton and Dorothy Reynolds Baker.
Carol attended and graduated as valedictorian of her class at Belmont Central School in 1959. Upon graduating, Carol moved to Olean and went to work at AT&T.
In 1960, she met the love of her life A.J. Calbi, and they were married on August 19, 1961. Over the years, she worked at The Olean Times Herald, F.H. Oakleaf, MDS laboratories, and Golden Gifts. In her younger years Carol loved to sing, dance, garden, and bowl. Later on, she loved to spend time with her children and their families.
In addition to her husband, Carol is survived by; four children, Nicholas (Patty) Calbi of Olean, Lisa (Rich) Zurat of Salamanca, Carrie Congdon of Hartwell, GA, and Stephen Calbi of Olean. Carol and A.J. have twelve grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and fourteen great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by; her parents; and three siblings, James (Mary) Baker, Margaret (James) Weatherell and Eileen (Walter) Kukulka.
Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State Street, Olean on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday (December 23, 2022) beginning with a 9:30am prayer service at the funeral home, followed by a 10am Mass of Christian Burial at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
