Allegany- Charles N. Skiver, formerly of Little Genesee, most recently of Allegany, passed away Wednesday (August 4, 2021) at the Buffalo General Hospital, with his family by his side.
Born January 16, 1929 in Eldred, PA., he was the son of the late, Vinson and Jennie Stiles Skiver. On November 7, 1953 he married Patricia Ackerman, who predeceased him on June 26, 2004.
Charles was a veteran of the United States Army from 1950-1953, serving during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the oil fields, and for KA-BAR Knives, Line Material (now Eaton-Cooper Power Systems) before retiring from Dresser Clark Bros in Olean.
He enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and Yahtzee, hunting, fishing, and giving his grandchildren tractor rides. In his younger years, he enjoyed roller skating. Charles was a member of the Bolivar Volunteer Fire Department, Bolivar American Legion, Post 772, and the Westons Mills and Kinney Hose fire company.
Surviving is; his daughter Linda Banfield of Allegany; three grandchildren, Theresa (Rich Warner) Morris of Allegany, Jamie (Curt) Button of Allegany, Kelly (Dylan) Bush of Arizona; five great-grandchildren, Cody Morris, Lindsay Morris, Aliyah Bush, Lily Button, and Lucy Button; one sister, Clara Buck; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife, he was predeceased by his siblings; Chester Skiver, Vinson Skiver, Jennie “Posie” Hadden, and Tom Skiver.
Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State Street, Olean on Tuesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday (August 11, 2021) at 11am at the funeral home. Rev. David Herne, will officiate. Burial will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
