Obituary

Olean- Dale J. Sakala of 609 Bishop Street, passed away Monday (July 18, 2022) at the Olean General Hospital, after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Born August 11, 1968, in Olean, he was the son of James Sakala and Marylin Skiver Whitehead.

Dale worked for many years for the former OSM Corporation in Olean as a welding and operations manager.  He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to go hunting and fishing.  He also enjoyed playing pool and throwing horseshoes.

He is survived by; his mom, Marylin of Rigby, Idaho; five children, Miranda Sakala, Mariah Sakala, Mackenzie Sakala, Lucas Sakala, and Madelyn Sakala; two siblings, Paul Sakala of Las Vegas, Nevada and Carri Martine of Boulder City, NV; a fabulous extended family; and his beloved dog, Colt.

Dale was predeceased by his dad.

There will be a Celebration of Dale’s Life held at his camp and announced at a later date.  Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean and at the convenience of the family.
