Olean - Daniel E. McGraw, Sr., of Olean, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (April 11, 2023) at Olean General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.

Born July 3, 1943 in Olean, he was the son of the late Richard and Elizabeth Martin McGraw.  On September 10, 1966 in St. John’s Church in Olean, he married Patricia Shelander who survives.

Daniel was a graduate of Olean High School. A welder by trade, graduating from the Breeden School of Welding, he worked for Dresser Clark and the Olean Tile Company. He retired from the Cattaraugus County Highway Department.

Daniel was a member of St. John’s Church. As a member of the Olean Rod and Gun Club, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed landscape painting.

Along with his wife of 56 years, he is survived by two sons, Daniel (Michelle) McGraw, Jr., of Olean and Christopher (Jodi) McGraw of Allegany; five grandchildren, Benjamin, Zachary, Maggie, Joshua and Kyle; and three nieces.

Daniel was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Marjorie Coast.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday (June 3, 2023) at 10 am at the St. John’s Catholic Church, 931 N. Union., Olean.  Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
