David N. Fitzsimmons, loving husband, father and grandpa

Portville- David N. Fitzsimmons of Portville passed away Friday, June 27, 2025, at the Jones Memorial Hospital Comfort Care Unit, with loving family by his side after a long illness.

David was born at the Olean General Hospital on December 21, 1951, the son of the late Frank and Mary Jane (Sair) Fitzsimmons. On July 1, 1978, he married the former Martha Cole, who survives.

He was a 1969 graduate of Clarion-Limestone High School in Strattanville, PA. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Navy serving from 1969 to 1973. He later went to work for the Eldred division of Ethan Allen Furniture for 34 years. David taught Karate and self defense classes, having earned a black belt. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He loved going to car shows. His passion was riding his motorcycle, and he also enjoyed leisurely bicycle rides.

David is survived by his loving wife, Martha; his two sons, Bryan D. (Mandy) Fitzsimmons and Aaron V. (Megan) Fitzsimmons; grandchildren, Marshall, Lydia, Corey, Sophie, Selina, Sophia, Hunter, Lorelai, and Tyler; a brother-in-law, David Trayer, who was more like a brother; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Mary Jane; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Trayer.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Portville.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
