David Lewis Obituary

David E. Lewis, 77, of Bradford, passed away of COVID-19, Tuesday, August 3, 2021,
at Olean General Hospital.

Born on June 15, 1944, in Salisbury, MD, he was a son of the late Louis
Dykes and Hazel Lewis.

On August 12, 1988, he married Sharon D. (Shores) Lewis who survives and shared a beautiful life for almost 33 years. Before marrying Sharon D. Shores, He was married to the late Dorothy P. Lewis (Morgan).

Before retiring many years ago, he worked as a heavy equipment operator at T.K. Construction. David worked as part of the team that constructed the Wicomico High School in Salisbury, MD.

His passion was singing gospel music with his family, playing guitar, banjo, and other instruments such as the dulcimer and mandolin which he would make himself. He loved woodworking and always had someone in mind to make something for. He loved hanging out with his grandchildren and showing them his wood projects.


He was an active member of Valley Worship Center in Farmers Valley. He volunteered at the Miller Evangelical Association Campground. He always felt led to mentor the youth and enjoyed sharing the love of Jesus with everyone he spoke with. He also enjoyed spending time with his family by having family cookouts and gatherings.

David is survived by three daughters, Jamie L. (Cory McCracken) Pabon,
Toni L. (David Taylor) Taylor, and Tracey D. (Angela Bounds) Lewis,
all of Bradford, one son, Charles E. (Jersey Champion) Lewis, of
Bradford, two stepdaughters, Michelle Ardis, of DE, and Mary Cugler
of MD, two sisters, Joyce Thomas, of MD. and Naomi Tar, of MD. Fourteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Gladys Lewis and one brother Charles Lewis.

Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc. 1303 E. State Street, Olean on Monday (August 9, 2021) from 10am-noon, funeral services will begin at noon.  Rev. David Eastman, will officiate. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery, Bradford.
