Dorothy J. George, loving mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Portville- Dorothy J. George, of Portville, passed away peacefully at the Pines Nursing Home in Olean on Saturday (Nov. 30, 2024) following a short illness.

Dorothy was born on September 20, 1937, in Dayton, NY. She was the daughter of the late Bessie Edna and George Archie Mix. On August 17, 1955, she married Robert Lavern George, Sr., who predeceased her.

Dorothy retired from Portville Central School District after being a bus driver for 20 years. She enjoyed sporting events as she never missed a game of her kids or grandkids. Dorothy enjoyed traveling when she could, as she and her husband traveled to Michigan and Florida every year, often with grandkids in tow. Her grandkids and great-grandkids meant the world to her. She was either home watching them or running around to their events. She loved to play cards with her family. Many will remember her from the dining room at Pizzaland in Portville. She enjoyed sitting there talking to all those who came in.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Robert “Bob” George, Jr., Randy George, and Rodney George (Cheri) all of Portville; seven grandchildren, Bryan George, Matthew George, Nicholas George, Gia George, Amber George, Ashlyn George, and Ricky D. George, Jr.; ten great-grandchildren, Allison George, Jared George, Dylan George, Jackson George, Lily George, Blake George, Brock George, Neveah Knapp, Zach Knapp, and Nolan Knapp.
