Evelyn M. Montalbo, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother
Portville- Evelyn M. Montalbo of Deer Creek Rd, passed away peacefully at Olean General Hospital on Saturday, February 4, 2023 after a brief illness.
Born May 26, 1933 in Olean, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Mary Harmon Monroe. In 1958 in Ceres, she married Frank J. Montalbo who survives.
Evelyn was a graduate of Bolivar Central School. She went on to the Doyle Beauty School in Buffalo graduating in 1955. Evelyn then went on to become a Licensed Practical Nurse getting her nursing degree from BOCES. She worked for Home Health Care and Hospice for many years. Evelyn also worked for a time at the Olean Tile Plant and the Portville Central School in the cafeteria. She was a Red Cross volunteer for many years.
In addition to her husband of 64 years, Evelyn is survived by her children; Angela (Judd) Wright of Olean, Kathleen (Mark) Schuessler of Bennington Center and Ralph (Cyndi) Montalbo of Hickman, TN; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and two brothers, Donald Monroe of Ceres, PA, and Robert (Janice) Monroe of Mt. Dora FL.
She was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Adelia Nichols and Joyce Lemmer; and two brothers, Richard Monroe and Llewellyn Monroe.
Family will receive friends at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main Street, Portville on Sunday (February 12, 2023) from 1 to 3pm with funeral service to follow at 3pm. Rev. Allen Yates, pastor to officiate. Private burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
