Frances Gardner Obituary

Olean- Frances N. Gardner, of 401 Alder Street, Apt. 33, passed away Friday (August 27, 2021) at the Olean General Hospital.

Born October 16, 1934 in Olean, she was the daughter of the late, Donald and Cenyth Young Chesner. On November 1, 1952, she married William “Bill” Gardner, who survives.

Frances and her husband, owned and operated the Red Door Saloon in Olean. She enjoyed crocheting and feeding the squirrels that came up to her door.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by; one son Paul (Mary) Gardner of Cuba; two daughters, Cindy Zapel of Buffalo and Lori (Michael) Darrow of Limestone, eight grandchildren, Danielle Mullins, Steven Zapel, Amber Hunt, Timothy Zapel, Justin Zapel, Jordan Darrow, Zachary Darrow and Dale Gardner; and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by one son, Dale R. Gardner.

At her request, there will be no visitation or services. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, and at the convenience of the family.
