Frederick A. Barber, loving husband

Olean- Frederick (Fred) A. Barber passed away peacefully in his sleep on the morning of December 20, 2024, after a short illness.

Fred was born on November 10, 1934, in Coldsprings, he was the son of the late Herbert and Arlene (Nelson) Barber. On April 28th, 1962 he married the love of his life, Veronica Rogosienski at Transfiguration Church in Olean.

He graduated from Portville Central School and served in the US Army from 1955 to 1958. Fred was employed at Dresser-Rand for 32 years, retiring in 1996.

He was a long-time member of Pulaski Club, St. Stephen's Club, American Legion, and the YMCA.

Fred leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Veronica; three children, Denise Barber (Blake Simpson), Rick (Katie) Barber, and Randy (April) Barber; one granddaughter, Michaela (Lex) Roenigk; and one great-granddaughter, Ella; his sister, Darlene (Harry) Manroe; his sisters-in-law, Betty Glass and Jean (Bob) Langfitt; and brother-in-law Paul (Margaret) Rogosienski; and many nieces and nephews.

Fred was predeceased by his sister Betty (Hal) Blauvelt, and a brother-in-law, Edward Glass.

Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State Street, Olean, on Monday (December 23, 2024) from 11 am to 1 pm, with a funeral service starting at 1 pm in the funeral home. Burial to follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, with military honors being accorded by the Allegany American Legion.
