Olean- George F. Ferry, Jr., of 1241 Old Rock City Road, passed away peacefully on Sunday (June 6, 2021) at the Olean General Hospital.

Born November 22, 1953 in Melbourne Florida, he was the son of George F. and Edna Unverdorben Meacham Ferry, Sr. On September 9, 1995 in Olean, he married Rebecca "Becky" Calvert, who survives.

George was a graduate of Olean High School class of 1972. He worked for Cutco and retired after 39 years of service.

He was a life time member of the Town of Olean Volunteer Fire Department and was their pitcher in the summertime softball league. He was a huge dog lover and avid sports fan. In his free time, George liked to play golf, bowl, and shoot pool. He was also a longtime Buffalo Bills Fan.

George was an avid hunter and fisherman. In his younger years, he enjoyed building go-karts. Most of all, he loved hosting his yearly neighborhood fireworks party.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by; one brother, Steven (Caroline) Ferry of Bolivar; two sisters, Deborah (Al) Skinner of Olean and Tina (James) Farmer of Olean; one step-daughter, Tammy Hakes of Olean; two step-sons, Patrick (Peggy) Zink of Olean and Scott (Nicole) Zink of Olean; five grandchildren, Justine and Luke Zink, Kelsey Bradford, Alycia and Brianna Zink; one brother-in-law, Clifford (Pat) Calvert of Olean; two sisters-in-law, Marcy (Richard) Rose of Williamsville, and Judith Ballou of Texas; his very special friends, Mark Edwards, Tom Churakos, and Tom Hirlman; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by; one brother-in-law, Bruce Calvert and one nephew; Michael Farmer.

There will be no services for George at this time.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Town of Olean Volunteer Fire Department, 1297 Old Rock City Road, Olean.
