Obituary
Portville- George Zandi, a longtime Portville resident, passed away Wednesday (March 29, 2023) peacefully at his home.
Born March 6, 1936, in Olean, he was the son of the late George and Meri Brighenti Zandi. He married Gerda Hagstotz, who predeceased him on November 20, 2017.
George was a United States Air Force veteran, from 1955-1959. He sold industrial supplies for many years. After retiring, he worked at Park and Shop to keep busy.
George enjoyed going to the casino, playing the accordion, and maintaining his yard and beautiful flower gardens in his free time.
He is survived by; two sons, Daniel (Lori) Zandi of Franklinville and Michael (Carmaletta) Zandi of Getzville; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews; and many great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, George was predeceased by; his siblings, Deno Zandi, Lewis “Gene” Zandi, Rena (Bob) Ford, Esther Bissell, Clara (“Shorty”) VanDixon.
Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State Street, Olean on Wednesday (April 5, 2023) from 10am-noon with a memorial service to follow at noon in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
