Gerald L. Andrus, beloved husband, father, and grandfather
Bolivar- Gerald L. Andrus of Bolivar passed away peacefully after an extended illness on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
Gerald was born in Clarksville on February 12, 1939, the son of the late John and Pauline Andrus. On December 16, 1963, in Elizabeth City, NC, he married his true love, the former Rita McKenzie, who survives.
A graduate of Richburg Central School, he furthered his education at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Gerald joined the US Marine Corps and served honorably as a Corporal. After his service in the USMC, he worked for Dresser Rand as a Draftsman until his retirement. Gerald’s faith was important to him; he was a faithful member of the Portville Baptist Church, and later of the West Clarksville Baptist Church.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Rita; his children, Debra (Nick) Prozeller, Jody (Keith) Hudak, Robert Andrus, Brenda Andrus, and James (Charis) Andrus; his grandchildren, David Prozeller, Amanda (Prozeller) Hall, Nicholas Prozeller, Marcus Prozeller, Candace (Hudak) Loftis, Cody Hudak, Cal Hudak, Steven Andrus, Cedar Andrus, River Andrus; and also 10 great grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Pauline, a sister, Helen Casler, and a brother, John Andrus.
There will be a Celebration of Gerald’s Life at West Clarksville Baptist Church on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 10:00 am
