Olean- Gerald W. “Gerry” Gallets, of 729 Maple Street, Olean, passed away Thursday (December 15, 2022) at the Olean General Hospital, after a brief illness.
Born December 12, 1931, in Olean, he was the son of the late, Joseph and Mary Keenan Gallets. On November 26, 1988, at St. John’s Church in Olean, he married Joan F. Padlo, who survives.
Gerry was a graduate of Olean High School, class of 1951. He was a Korean War Veteran with the United States Navy, serving from 1951-1955. He was a member of the Allegany Legion Charles Harbel Post #892, the St. Stephen’s Club, the Pulaski Club, and St. John’s Church. Gerry was an avid golfer and a member of the St. Bonaventure Golf Course as well.
Besides his wife, he is survived by seven children; Michael (Nancy) Gallets, Mark (Sheila) Gallets, Brian (Lucy) Gallets, Christine Gallets, Sharon (Jake) Grandmaison; Judy (Nicholas) Ambroselli, and John Petruccelli; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one sister Joan (Dale) Stevens; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by; one sister, Karen Kenyon.
Friends will be received at St. John’s Church, 931 N. Union Street on Saturday (December 17, 2022) from 9am-10am. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10am. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery and at a later date.
