Gordon W. Bennett

Olean- Gordon W. Bennett, 86, of Olean, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024, after a short illness.

Gordon was born October 16, 1937, in Bradford, PA., he was the son of the late Charles and Madeline (Piscitelli) Bennett. On December 6, 1958, at the Bethel Assembly of God Church, he married the former Carol Geary, who predeceased him on May 28, 2008.

Gordon owned multiple businesses, two hotels, a restaurant, gas station and a dairy farm. He loved to garden, hunt, go dancing and play bingo. He loved his dogs so much so, that if you saw Gordon, you saw the dogs. His favorite sports teams were the NY Yankees and the Buffalo Bills. Gordon was always the first one there if you needed help or to give you, his wisdom.

Gordon is survived by his three sisters, Alberta Frey, Margaret (Lloyd) Deitz and Debra (Rick) Tierson; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Carol; his parents, Charles and Madeline; a son, Chris; two brothers, Steve and Duane and a sister, Marjorie.

Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State Street, Olean, on Friday (October 4, 2024) from 1 pm to 3 pm, with a funeral service starting at 3 pm in the funeral home, Pastor Terry Jenks of Maplehurst Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
