Helen McCann Washington, sweet, caring, loving mother

Ischua- Helen McCann Washington, passed away Sunday October 13, 2024, at the Olean General Hospital after a short illness.

Helen was born in Olean on May 27, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Margaret Rado McCann.

After graduating high school, Helen became a certified nurse’s aide. She worked for St. Joseph’s Manor for 37 years. Helen was raised Catholic and attended many of the local churches, for the last few years she was a member of St. Bonaventure Church. She was an avid knitter and crocheter, a fan of the Buffalo Bills, and collector of teddy bears. She loved her canine companion, Sanford.

Helen is survived by her son Robert J. Washington; two brothers, Edward McCann of Allegany and Thomas McCann of Jackson, TN; and her former husband, John E. Washington.

She was predeceased by her parents, Wilbur and Margaret.

A memorial mass will be held Monday, October 28, 2024 at 10 am, at St. Bonaventure Church, Allegany. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
