Wellsville- Herbert D. Cox, Jr., of 5667 County Road 38, Wellsville, passed away August 19, 2021 at Jones Memorial Hospital.
Born August 18, 1948 in Port Allegany, PA., he was the son of the late, Herbert D. and Shirley M. Eck Cox, Sr. On April 10, 1976 he married Karen B. Taylor, who survives.
Herb was a graduate of Portville Central School, class of 1968. He went on to graduate from National Heavy Machine Equipment School in Charlotte, North Carolina. He worked for the Mahar Service Stores in Olean, W.T. Grant Company, the Cuba Cheese Plant, and the Olean Housing Authority. He was also self-employed.
Herb enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, spotting deer, and four wheeling. He also enjoyed going to football games, cook outs, playing cards, and spending time with his family; especially his children and grand-children.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children; Tara A. Cox of Kane, PA., Herbert D. Cox, III of Black Creek, Duane M. Cox of Scio, Zera A. Cox of Cochanton, and Esther M. Cox of Friendship; five grandchildren; Skylar Nicklas, Wyatt Cox, Star Nicklas, Julia Metz, and Arden Cox; one great-grandson, Landon J. McIntyre; his siblings; Donnie (Sherry) Cox, Connie (Tim) Lemon, Linda (Tom) Eastman, Steve (Virginia) Cox, Roxanne (Pete) Scull, Debbie (Jeff) Page, Mark (Mary) Cox, Chris (Rich) Sosnowski, Marcene (Tony) Aloi, and Kim Ginter; his step-mom, Gwen Cox; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Diane L. Pringle, and several aunts and uncles.
Friends will be received at the Miller’s Evangelistic Association, 479 Pennsylvania Highway 44, Shinglehouse on Friday from 10am-11am, at which time funeral services will begin. Burial will be in Forest Hills, Belmont.
