Portville- Herman N. Guenther, a longtime Portville resident, passed away Friday (May 21, 2021) at the Pines Health and Rehabilitation Center in Olean.
Born May 25, 1941 in Ridgway, PA., he was the son of the late, August and Eva Sallack Guenther. He married the former Nancy Biel in Johnsonburg, PA., who survives.
Herman worked for Olean Wholesale for several years as a truck driver. His job allowed him to travel around the state and he could enjoy his true passion; watching high school sports at different locations and venues. He enjoyed watching high school wrestling and football; and loved watching his grandsons play football locally. He was also an avid golfer.
In addition to his wife; he is survived by two children; Rhonda (Scott Jennings) Guenther of Cape Coral, FL., and Kurt (April) Guenther of Geneva, FL; six grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, and Kyle Morris and Kurt, Kole, and Linnea Guenther; six-greatgrandchildren, Brayden, Elena, Treyson, Madison, Luke, and Jace; one brother, Norman Guenther of Hawaii; one sister, Karen Guenther of Olean; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 51 S. Main Street, Portville on Thursday (May 27, 2021) from 10am until noon. Funeral services will follow at noon. Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
