Portville- James A. Babb of 1306 Lillibridge Road, Portville, passed away Monday (September 25, 2023) at his home with his family.
Born February 9, 1954, in Olean, he was the son of the late Clifford and Clara Shoup Babb. He married Janet Lockwood, who survives.
Jim first worked in the oil fields, drilling wells. He later went to work as a machine operator for Dresser-Rand in Olean.
He was a longtime member of the Portville American Legion, 814. In his free time, Jim enjoyed remodeling a house, driving tractors and bulldozers, and playing guitar with his brother, “Skip” Babb.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Barbara Baker of Olean, Jamie (Teresa) Babb of Missouri, and Eric (Meaghan) Babb of Portville; his grandchildren, Taylor Williams, Darrick (Katelyn) Babb, Brittany Babb, Tyler Babb, Jordyn Babb, Cody Babb; two-step grandchildren, Jessica Lunsford and Erin Priddy; two great-grandchildren; Athena Babb and Anna Belle Babb; and eleven siblings, Sandy Krozier of PA., Randy (Naomi) Babb of Olean, Ronald (Cheryl) Babb of Limestone, Dawn (Robert) Bean of Eldred, PA., Jack (Carol) Babb of Olean, Clifford Babb, Sr. of Arkansas, Joyce (Chuck) Cwiklinski of Buffalo, Wayne (Diane) Babb of Olean, Linda (Shane) McGranaghan of Pennsylvania, Brian (Alvena) Babb of Allegany, and Brenda Cabisca of Olean; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one son, Mark Williams.
Jim’s life will be celebrated at the Portville American Legion, 24 S. Main Street, Portville, on Thursday (September 28, 2023) at 3 p.m.
