James A. “Jim” Napolione,
loving husband, father, brother, friend and grandpa to many
James A. “Jim” Napolione, 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on June 5, 2024.
Jim was born on December 14, 1931 in Olean. He was the son of Vincenzo and Nellie Rogers Napolione. On November 28, 1964, he married his beloved wife, Lorraine Jane Padlo, who preceded him in death on April 4, 2000. He was a life-long resident of Olean and an active member of St. John’s Church, especially enjoying St. John’s Festa Italiana with his close buddies.
Jim graduated from Olean High School in 1951. After graduation, he worked for the US Post Office and then served in the Army from 1954 to 1956 at Fort Meade, Maryland. After he was discharged, he owned Napolione Liquors until he became a Receiving Clerk and Union Representative at Clark Brothers/Dresser Industries. After retirement, he worked and volunteered at St. John’s for twenty years.
Jim enjoyed visiting and spending time with family and so many friends that were family to him. He loved being an extra grandpa to many.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Lisa (David) of Hoboken, New Jersey; his two grandchildren whom he adored, Jacob (Natalie) of Ridgewood, Queens and Sara (Tyler) of Manhattan, New York City; his goddaughter and niece with whom he was especially close, Karen Rogozinski (Raymond); and many dear nieces, nephews and godchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers Dennis (Theresa), and John (Kathryn), and sisters, Annie, Grace (Elwyn), and Carol (Gregory).
Family and friends will be received this Friday, June 7, 2024 at the Guenther Funeral Home, 1303 East State Street, Olean, from 11:00am to 12:30pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. John’s Church at 1:00pm, followed by burial at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
