Jane F. Jacques

Portville- Jane F. Jacques, of Portville-Ceres Road, passed away Saturday (February 4, 2023) at the Olean General Hospital.

Born January 19, 1928, in Kansas City, Kansas she was the daughter of the late Albert and Bertha Smith Jacques.

Jane first worked at the Cardinal Glennon Memorial Hospital for Children in St. Louis, Missouri. She later moved to Switzerland and worked as a biologist researcher before moving back to the United States to work at the Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia as an electron microscopy technician retiring in 1985. After, retirement she moved to the Portville area to be near her brother, Felix.  She worked at the Cider Mill for many years.

Jane was a member of the former Sacred Heart Oratory in Portville and their altar society.  She was also a longtime member of the Portville Senior Citizens group.

She is survived by one cousin, Valerie Smith and many good friends.

She was predeceased by; one brother Felix and one sister Lillian.

Funeral services for Jane will be held on Friday (February 10, 2023) at the Sacred Heart Oratory at 3pm. Rev. Peter Schneible, OFM, will officiate.  Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Kansas City, KS.
