Jane Ann Richard

Olean – Jane Ann Richard, passed away peacefully Monday (August 14, 2023) at The Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Olean.

Jane was born March 30, 1934 in Rochester to Dr. Edward K. and Lois A. Smith Richard.

She graduated from Olean High School in 1952, then the Strong Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1955. She went on to earn a B.S in nursing from the University of Rochester in 1965. Jane worked for the Cattaraugus County Health Department for 24 years as a Public Health Nursing Supervisor. After retiring from the County, Jane worked for Comstock Hospice Care Network as a Coordinator of Volunteers.

Jane was on the first board of directors for the Olean Homemaker Service, now known as Home Health Care of S. Western N.Y. She was a faithful member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, joining the Altar Guild. Jane was also a member of the local Interfaith Caregivers, Inc.

Jane if survived by two nieces, Mary Richard and Linda Goetz; and a nephew, Alistair Canal.

She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Ernst Richard; and a sister, Suzanne Canal.
