Janet L. Dougherty

loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother

Olean- Janet L. Dougherty passed away Thursday (October 5, 2023) at the Olean General Hospital.

Born in Olean, on April 20th 1943, she was the daughter of Herman and Alene Kemp Cords. On December 19, 1987, she married Donald Dougherty, who predeceased her in May of 1991.

She attended Olean Schools. Janet was a waitress for 40 plus years to every prominent restaurant in the Olean area. She was a member of the Olean VFW. She enjoyed her flowers and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters Debbie Loop and Barbara Loop of Olean, and their father Duane Loop; grandchildren Zachery Loop, Chelsey Peterson, Arthur (Ashley) Peterson; great grandchildren, Amari Parrish, Kiari Parrish, Kai Shakespeare, Addison Peterson.

She was predeceased by her parents; and one brother, David Cords.

The family will receive friends at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State Street, Olean, on Tuesday (October 10, 2023) from 4-7 p.m., with memories being shared starting at 6:30pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
