Portville- Jeanne E. Stives of 9474 Deer Creek Road, passed away Wednesday (July 1, 2020) at the Olean General Hospital.
Born June 14, 1943 in Olean, she was the daughter of the late, Orson and Eddeth Burdick Frair. On July 12, 1963, she married Rodney L. Stives, who survives.
Jeanne was a graduate of Portville High School and attended Olean Business Institute. She first worked at the former, Dexter Hysol in Olean and later, for the Village of Portville, as the village clerk.
Jeanne loved listening to Elvis and birdwatching. Most of all, she was a devoted wife and truly loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
In addition to her husband of fifty-seven years, she is survived by three children; Christine (Steve) Carpenter of Hamilton, NJ, Robert (Brandi Harris) Stives of Portville, Nicholas (Brandi Jeffers) Stives of Portville; five grandchildren; Albanie Hendrickson-Stives, Caleb Carpenter, Joel Stives, Tyler Stives, and Leigha Stives; one brother, James Frair of Portville; two sisters-in-law; Penny Stives of Duke Center, PA., and Sandy Frost of N.C., one brother-in-law, Hugh Martin of Portville; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by; one sister, Louise Martin; one brother, Meade Frair; two brothers-in-law, Robert Stives and Richard “Dick” Stives; and two sisters-in-law, Lois Stives and Anna Frair.
Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main St., Portville, on Monday (July 6, 2020) from 11am-1pm, with funeral services to follow at 1pm. Rev. David Cook, will officiate. Burial will be in West Genesee Cemetery, Obi.
Memorials, if desired, may be made to the Portville Fire Department, 5 S. Main Street, Portville or to Portville Central School, c/o Physics Club, 500 Elm Street, Portville.
