Jeannette “Yonnie” Melnyk

Olean- Jeannette A. Melnyk of Queen St, Olean, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Olean General Hospital, with loving family by her side.

Born July 22, 1931, in Olean, she was the daughter of the late Michael Stavish. On June 28, 1952, in Olean, she married John “Biz” Melnyk, who predeceased her on August 11, 1977.

Jeannette worked at St. Bonaventure University for 15 years. She was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels Church, the Pulaski Club Ladies Auxiliary, and the Olean Senior League.

Jeannette is survived by her children, Joan (Dan) Walsh, John (Irma) Melnyk, Mary Jo (Albert) Griss, and Jeff (Pam) Melnyk; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew.

She was predeceased by her husband, John.

A private service was held Monday at Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St. Olean, burial was in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
