Jeffrey W. Hines, Loving Husband, Brother, Uncle, and all-around Good Friend
Allegany- Jeffrey W. Hines died peacefully, Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Olean General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.
Jeff was born in Olean on September 26, 1957, at St. Francis Hospital, the son of the late Robert and M. Joyce (Wilson) Hines. On September 27, 1980, in St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, he married the former Susan Nolan, who survives.
He graduated from Olean High School in 1976 and completed several evening computer courses at JCC, as well as numerous industry training courses related to his work at Dresser Rand/Siemens over the years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a Technical Writer for Dresser Rand/Siemens, spanning 40 years. He enjoyed the work associated with the industry as well as the day-to-day interactions with his coworkers, many he considered friends.
Jeff was a member of the Portville Conservation Club and the Olean Car Club. He was passionate about restoration and buying/selling classic cars over his lifetime. Jeff was very proud of the charitable donations raised by the local car shows he participated in, especially those in support of research by the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Jeff was a very kind man; he would never fail to come to the aid of a friend in need. He dearly loved his family and enjoyed many outings and travels with them over the years. Remembering Jeff’s legacy of love and care will surely help sustain all those who loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; his siblings, Robert (Margaret) Hines, Jr., and Patricia (Shane) Stone; and brother-in-law, Michael Nolan; and sister-in-law, Anne Marie Nolan; and several nieces and nephews.
Jeff was predeceased by his parents, Robert and M. Joyce, and a nephew, Brandon Stone.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 10, 2025, from 10 am to 11 am at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean, with a memorial service starting at 11 am in the funeral home. Chaplain Terry Bush will officiate. Burial to follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
Charitable donations, if desired, may be made to the St. Elizabeth Mission Society or charity of the donor’s choosing.
