John L. Cappelletti, Jr. Loving father and husband
Olean- John L. Cappelletti, Jr. of 115 Charles St. died October 9, 2021 following a brief illness.
John was born December 10, 1931 in Olean and was a son of John L. Cappelletti, Sr. and Helen (Samaranda) Cappelletti.
On January 19, 1957, he married Joanne K. (Cantwell) Cappelletti who predeceased him on October 27, 2013.
John was a prominent restaurateur in the Olean area. He started his career as a baker at St. Bonaventure University from 1949-‘51 and then became chef at Piccioli’s Restaurant from 1952-‘57. He then was chef at the Roma Villa in Bradford from 1958-‘61 and then head chef at both the Downtown Deli (1962) and HoSteGeh Restaurant from 1963-‘66. He then opened John Cap’s Restaurant from 1967-’79. John loved to fish and spent many winters fishing off the Jedi in Melbourne, Florida.
John is survived by two children; Gary M. Cappelletti of Olean, NY and John T. Cappelletti of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam; and a sister Marge D. Compfort of Clearwater, FL.
Along with his loving wife Joanne, John was predeceased by his parents, his brother Vincent E. Cappelletti on Dec. 28, 2019 and his sister Mary E. McCready on March 16, 2021.
There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will be held in St. Bonaventure Cemetery of Allegany.
