John Michael Gray

Olean-John Michael Gray, 58, of 1951 West Fall Road, passed away, Thursday (December 2, 2021) with his loving family by his side.

John Michael was born, February 13, 1963, at the former St. Francis Hospital in Olean. He was the son of John and Carol (Layton) Gray. John Michael was a lifelong client of the ReHabilitation Center, now Intandem.  He lived at home with his parents for most of his life and moved to a residence house in 2016 where he was loved by his friends and his caretakers. Everyone often told his family his smile could melt your heart!

While growing up, John Michael enjoyed going to his grandparent’s camp and driving the tractors and bulldozers.  He had a love for cars, going to car shows, and attending his nephew’s dirt track and go-cart races. He especially enjoyed his special overnight trip with Intandem when they would take him and a friend to Watkins Glen NASCAR race. 

John Michael had a very special niece, Christina that would move mountains to make her Uncle Mike happy.  He was her incentive to go into the medical field.

He is survived by; his father, John H. Gray of Olean; two sisters, Barbara (Louis) Nuzzo and Jennifer (Dustin) Skinner; three nephews, Dusty, Colton, and Jacob Skinner; one niece, Christina Nuzzo; and a special Uncle, Jason G. Layton.

He was predeceased by his loving Mother, Carol Gray; and an infant sister, Ann Marie Gray.

Family will receive friends at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State Street on Tuesday (December 7, 2021) from 11am-1pm, at which time funeral services will begin.  Rev. Derek Cheek, pastor of St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Allegany will officiate.  Private burial services will be held in Allegany Cemetery, Allegany.
