John R. Goy loving brother, uncle

Olean- John R. Goy, of Olean, passed away Saturday (November 25, 2023) at Rochester General Hospital.

Born May 11, 1953, in Olean, he was the son of John M. and Maria M Woerle Goy.

John was dealt many physical and developmental limitations, but always exceeded everyone’s expectations. He worked at SubCon Industries in the sheltered workshop. John was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. In his youth, John participated in Special Olympics and also enjoyed listening to music.

John is survived by four siblings, Dr. Richard (Dr. Sarah Stevens) Goy of Bethlehem, PA., David M. (Kristie) Goy of Albuquerque, NM., Mary-Lu (Paul) Westerburg of Derrick City, PA., and Lisa (Joseph) Damato of Hudson, OH.; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Jan and Bob Haggerty, who found time after his parents’ passing to bring him a milkshake and share some memories every Sunday.

He was predeceased by his parents.

Friends are invited to a graveside service, St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Wednesday (November 29, 2023) at 12:30 pm, with Fr. Peter Bassey officiating.
