Joseph McBride, loving husband, father, and Papa Joe
Olean- Joseph McBride, of Irving St., passed away on S. 3rd St in Olean, Friday, December 27, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.
Joe was born in Buffalo, on January 6, 1956, the son of the late Donald and Eleanor Callahan McBride. He was fostered and cared for by Lynn and J. Michael Shane. On August 17, 1974, at the St. Helen’s Church in Hinsdale, he married the former Nancy Abbott, who survives.
Joe graduated from Archbishop Walsh in 1974. He owned and operated McBride’s Wheel on West State Street. For the past 25 years, he owned and operated a truck leased to FedEx Custom Critical. His hobbies were cards, boating, fishing, and traveling. His passion was spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; his children, Joseph M (Stephanie) McBride, and Colleen (Kevin) McBride-Kocke; grandchildren, Samuel Joseph Kocke, Trent Kocke, Sage Kocke, and Ethan James Kocke; siblings, Timothy (Camille Bush-McBride) McBride, Kathleen McBride, Sean McBride, Terrance McBride, and E. Brigid McBride; a brother-in-law, Larry Abbott, sister-in-law, Kathleen Ortung-McBride; and honorary special family members, Arthur and Mary Gilbert.
He was predeceased by his parents Donald and Eleanor; foster mom, Lynn Shane; and siblings, Kevin McBride, Maureen McBride,
