Joseph A. Mohr

Olean- Joseph A. Mohr, of 2003 Haskell Road, Olean, passed away Saturday (October 1, 2022) at his home, with his wife by his side.

Born March 30, 1932, in Olean, he was the son of the late Arthur and Janet Mohr.  On December 31, 1955, in St. Bonaventure Church, he married Rae Louis Turner, who survives.

Joe was a graduate of Portville Central School. He enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1952-1954.  After his military service, he worked for GM in Buffalo for many years. On March 22, 1960, he started his career with Olean Wholesale Company as a truck driver.  In 1991, he competed in the truck driving rodeo for Olean Wholesale and won and went on to states competition.  He also received safe driving awards each year for over thirty years.

He was a longtime horse and cattle farmer.  He and his wife owned and operated Mohr’s Breezy Acres Horse farm for many years.  He also enjoyed traveling, going to horse pulls, and attending auctions and was well known for doing parades, weddings and other events with their horses and carriage. Joe was a lifetime member of the Eagles Club, the Cuba VFW Post 2721, the Cuba AmVets, and several local American Legions.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by; three children, Randy (Paulette) Mohr of Olean, Thomas J. (Shelley “Gert’”) Mohr of Olean, and Vicki (William) Blessing of Olean; seven grandchildren, Christian Mohr, Amber Mohr, Kristin Akimchuck, Michelle Packiorkoski, Michael Mohr, Matthew Mohr, Bryce Blessing, and Kylie Blessing; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Mohr of Washington.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by; one son, Raymond Mohr in 1972; one sister, Beatrice Petrizi; and one daughter-in-law, Diane Mohr.

A celebration of Joe’s Life will be held at a later date, and at the convenience of the family.
