Olean- Josephine T. (Germack) Stavish, of 1560 Happy Hollow Road, passed away Wednesday (May 5, 2021) peacefully at her home, with her devoted family by her side.
Born December 25, 1930 in Olean, she was the daughter of the late, Joseph and Stella Kujawa Germack. On June 16, 1956 at the Transfiguration Church in Olean, she married Joseph A. Stavish, who predeceased her on January 20, 2020.
Josephine was a graduate of Olean High School, class of 1949. After graduating, she worked at the former Daystrom Furniture Company. She later worked at the former Conap Industries in Olean, for several years.
She was a longtime parishioner of the former Transfiguration Church and a member of their Rosary Society. She was currently a parishioner of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. Josephine was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pulaski Club.
She was an avid New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan, she enjoyed bowling and going for walks. Most of all, she truly loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her three loving daughters; Valerie (Terry) Benson of Olean, Paula (Michael) Roberts of Exton, PA., and Lorraine (Philip) Stevens of Hattiesburg, MS; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Josephine was predeceased by one sister, Joan (Theodore) Gerada, of Michigan.
Family will receive friends on Friday (May 14, 2021) from 9-10am at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am. Rev. David Tourville, pastor, will be the celebrant. In celebration of Josephine's life, colorful attire is encouraged and welcomed. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, and at a later date.
