June Eaton Obituary
“Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister”
Cuba- June M. Eaton of Wolf Run Road, Cuba, passed away Friday (April 23, 2021) at the Olean General Hospital.
Born June 14, 1935 in Westons Mills, she was the daughter of Jesse and Luella Fox Burger. On September 23, 1954, June married Melvin “Skip” Eaton, who predeceased her on August 18, 2013.
June was a graduate of Richburg Central School. In 1956, she went to WCA Nursing School in Jamestown and received her nursing degree. She also graduated from Elohim Bible Institute in Castile in 1978.
She was a wife of a career military man, living in an array of places across the United States (Davis Monthan, AFB, AZ; Seymore Johnson AFB, Goldsboro, NC; Griffis, AFB, Rome; Homestead AFB, FL; Holloman AFB, NM). Additionally, June served in various capacities in the medical profession around the country and for Cuba Memorial Hospital, Olean General Hospital, and the former St. Francis Hospital, locally.
June was a longtime member of the Portville Baptist Church, a member of Pfeiffer Nature Center, and volunteered at the Portville Christian School. In her free time, June enjoyed quilting, gardening, traveling, and eating out with friends.
Surviving are four children; Jesse (Anita) Eaton of Coudersport, PA, Kirk (Mona) Eaton of Covington, GA, Mark (Ester) Eaton, Sierra Vista, AZ, and Matthew (Jen) Eaton of Fayetteville, NC; seven grandchildren, Eric, Pam (Chris), Luella (Ryan), Daryl (Shanna), Derek (Keli), Brittany, and Brooke (Jordan); ten great-grandchildren, Maddie, Aiden, Durham, Evelyn, Henry, Daniel, Wyatt, Barrett, Caleb, and Jayse; one sister, Nada (Lynn) Lawton, of Bolivar; two nieces, Holly and Leslie; and two nephews, Jeff and Greg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Greg Burger.
Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main Street, Portville on Thursday from 6-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday (April 30, 2021) at 11am at the Portville Baptist Church, 24 Temple Street, Portville. Burial will follow in the West Genesee Cemetery, Obi.
