Kathleen E. Martinelli, loving wife, mother, nana, sister, mother-in-law, and aunt
Olean-Kathleen E. Martinelli of 565 Prospect Avenue and, for the last 8 years, Manor Hills Assisted Living of Wellsville, peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023, in Strong Memorial Medical Center surrounded by her family following a short illness.
Born on November 10, 1944, in Rochester, NY, she was the daughter of the late Orville and Gladys LeBeau Keeler. On October 13, 1967, in Rochester, she married the love of her life Thomas E. Martinelli who predeceased her in 2005.
Kathy was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School in Rochester, NY. She worked at Yawman & Erbe Co. in Rochester until she married her husband and moved to Olean in 1967. She was a stay-at-home mom until she became employed as a clerk by the Faculty Student Association Bookstore at the Cattaraugus County Campus of Jamestown Community College in Olean, NY where she retired as the bookstore manager in 2010.
Kathy was a member of the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. She was an avid New York Yankee and Pittsburgh Steeler fan. She always attended her children’s activities and events when they were growing up, and as her grandchildren grew she did the same. She also loved to crochet and read in her spare time.
Surviving is; her daughter, Melissa (Rob) VanHoutte; 3 sons, TJ (Kim) Martinelli, Dennis Martinelli, and Kevin (Renee) Martinelli, all of Olean; 15 grandchildren, Ricky, Haleigh, Randy, Ashleigh, Kyleigh, Andrew, Denny, Emaleigh, Lileigh, Marcus, Isabella, Nya, Carson, Nate, and Oliver; 8 great-grandchildren, Shay, Eli, Brayden, Isaiah, Oliver, Sterling, Adelaide, and Emmett; a sister, Mary Jude Ostrander of Rochester; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and her sister, Nancy McCahill along with several brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State Street, Olean. Funeral services will be held Friday (April 21, 2023) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
