Kathleen Marie Snyder, loving wife and mother
Olean – Kathleen Marie Snyder passed away Monday (January 13, 2025) at The Pines of Olean, following a short stay.
She was born April 11, 1944, in Olean, the daughter of Raymond Joseph and Altha Marjorie Smith Isaman. In 1966, a blind date led her to marry Carl L. Snyder on July 20, 1968, in Olean.
Kathleen graduated from Olean High School and the New Penn School of Hairdressing. In Rochester, she worked for the Security Trust Company in the Consumer Credit Dept., in Olean, she worked for Olean General Hospital in the Dietary Dept., Leo Markets in the Bakery-Deli, Jo Ann Fabrics, and the Olean Library.
She loved working with miniatures and collecting famous quotes and special poems. A favorite she often recited on several occasions:
"A kind word for a stranger, a smile for the sometimes guest. But for your own a bitter tone though you love your own the best".
Her favorite short line: It is what it is.
Kathleen is survived by her husband, Carl L.; two sons, Bryan Scott of Olean and Christopher Michael of Allegany; and a special granddaughter, Elizabeth P. Snyder of Olean; two nephews, Gordon Ford of Olean and Mark Johnson of Allegany.
She was predeceased by her parents, Raymond and Altha; a sister, Marilyn Johnson; and a brother, Raymond Isaman Jr.
At Kathleen’s request, there will be no viewing. A celebration of life will be held and announced at a later date. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
