Keith Wood Obituary

Bolivar – Keith L. Wood of 8993 Barber Rd, passed away Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Cuba Hospital after a brief illness.

Born May 23, 1927 in Bolivar, he was one of 14 children born to Richard and Mamie Pire Wood. He was married to the former Barbara Adams who passed away in 2004. On September 16, 2006, he married the former Estella Pockalny Olkosky, who survives.

Keith attended Bolivar High School. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II and in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a signal foreman for the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Conrail Railroad for forty years, retiring in 1989. Keith was a member of the Portville Masonic Lodge # 579 F & A.M., for many years, serving as Master twice. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory of Coudersport, PA., a member of the Ismalia Shrine of Buffalo and a life member of the Bolivar Fire Dept. Keith was active in bowling and horse shoes for many years.

Surviving in addition to his wife Estella, one son, Brad (Cheryl) Wood of Obi; one daughter, Karen (Thomas) Joynt of Canandaigua; four grandsons, Josh (Kayla) Harris, Nate Harris, Zach (Linsey) Wood and Dakota Collins; and step son Billy Joe Olkosky.

In addition to his parents and first wife; he was predeceased by, sisters, Gladys Barnes, Ruth Jackson, Grace Enos, Jean Duell; and brothers Alfred Wood and Carlton Wood; and a step son Stephen Olkosky.

Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main Street, Portville on Wednesday (April 7, 2021) from 1 to 3pm with funeral to follow, Rev. Dr. Anthony Evans to officiate. Portville Masonic Lodge 252 will conduct a memorial service before the funeral service Wednesday. Burial will be in West Genesee Cemetery, Obi, with full military honors accorded by the Allegany American Legion, Charles Harbel Post #892.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Development and Donor Relations Department, Shriners Hospitals for Children — Erie, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
