Allegany- Kenneth H. Campbell, 74, of Allegany, passed away on Friday (August 18, 2023) at the VA Hospital in Bath after a long illness.
He was born in Wellsville on February 28, 1949, he was the son of the late Howard and Dorothy Shulters Campbell.
Kenny attended Olean High School and was drafted in May of 1969 into the United States Army. While serving his tour in Vietnam as a Specialist proudly for his country, he received the Army Commendations Medal for distinguished achievement in battle.
Kenny worked with his father as a young boy at the 7th St. Shell Station in Olean. After his tour, he began full employment at Campbell Oil and Griffith Oil. In his later years, he enjoyed working at the Birch Run Golf Course, where he also enjoyed playing the game of golf with Debbie and numerous friends. In addition to his love for golf, Kenny also enjoyed hunting and was an avid lifelong fan of NASCAR, which began in his younger years while building stock cars with friends. He enjoyed boating on Kinzua with Debbie, and also enjoyed the company of his friends at Randy’s Up the River.
Kenny was a proud Allegany American Legion Charles Harbel Post 892 member, the Ambassador’s Drum & Bugle Corp., and a former member of the local Elk’s and Eagles Clubs,
He is survived by his sister, Elizabeth “Beth” (Campbell) Orcutt, and his brother-in-law Robert J. Orcutt. He is also survived by two nieces, Christine (John) Demitrovic (Churchville) and Karen L. Orcutt (East Rochester), and one nephew, Jon R. Orcutt (Olean), as well as three great-nephews, Ryan A. Demitrovic (Churchville), Nolan R. Demitrovic (Churchville), and Samuel R. Orcutt (Canandaigua), and one great niece Anna E. Orcutt (Canandaigua).
Kenny was predeceased by his wife, Debbie, and his son Scott H. Campbell.
Friends will be received at the Guenther Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State Street Olean, on Wednesday (August 23, 2023) from 11 am-1 pm. Funeral services will begin at 1 pm with Rev. Kim Rossi, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Bonaventure Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Allegany American Legion.
