Shinglehouse, PA-Kenneth D. Herzog, Jr. of 149 Barbertown Road, Shinglehouse, Pa. 16748 went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 28th, 2021, after a long-fought illness, with his family near him.
Born February 1, 1947, he was the son of the late, Kenneth D. and Erla Robbins Herzog Sr.
Ken attended Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse, PA. On July 9th, 1966, he married Darlene Y. Campbell Herzog. She went to her Heavenly home on, October 29, 2020.
Ken had a passion for being at his camp in Cross Forks, PA. He enjoyed dirt track racing, coon and deer hunting. His grandchildren and great grandchildren each held a special piece in his heart.
Ken is survived by; his daughters, Danae (Dennis) Babcock, Anita M. Schimp, (his sixteen-year-old daughter that he fought to survive for at home) and Heidi Schimp, all of Shinglehouse, PA; One son, Kenneth (Barbara) Herzog of Shinglehouse, PA. He was the father to foster children; Deanna (Matthew) Maxson of Shinglehouse and Henry (Megan) Cohn of Johnsonburg, PA, they were his children and an active part of his life. Grandchildren; Meghan Chaffee, Heather (Travis) Chaffee, Travis (Mary) Babcock, Faith C. Herzog, Cynethia (James) Martin, Benjamin (Nancy) Maxson, and Jared (Taylor) Maxson. Great grandchildren; Ahnah, Konnar, Finley, Savana, Everleigh, Kinsley and baby Braxton due in April. Two sisters; Marilou (Alex) Filips, (who cared for him and Anita at their home) and Rose (Ronald) Carlson of Anita, PA., Many nieces and nephews including; Chad, Mike, Nash, Andi Carlson, Robin and Paige Smith; and a lifelong friend, Larry Harvey of Shinglehouse, PA.
He was predeceased by his brother Richard. R. Herzog in April 1999.
Per Ken’s wishes there will be no services. Burial will be in The Evergreen Cemetery on Barbertown Road Shinglehouse, PA., next to his former wife and love, Darlene. Also, some of his ashes will be scattered at his haven on earth, Bundle Branch Camp in Cross Forks, PA.
