Lawrence Lee Randall, very loving husband and father
OLEAN — Lawrence Lee Randall, of 2616 McCann Hollow Road, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday (Nov. 2, 2022) at Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo, surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 7, 1940, in Elmira, he was the son of Lawrence and Mamie (Brown) Randall. On Oct. 17, 1964, in Millview Wesleyan Church in Forksville, Pa., he married the former Lana Norton, who survives.
Lee was a graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor degree in physical education. Upon moving to Olean, he worked at the YMCA and went on to teach and coach basketball for many years at Otto Eldred High School and Hinsdale Central School. He also ran the zamboni at the Olean Recreation Center.
Lee and Lana were known to have never missed a Sunday service. They were faithful members of McCrea Brook Wesleyan Church in Eldred and the Olean Community Church.
He also ran the Olean Church Softball League and loved going to St. Bonaventure softball and baseball games, especially when his son Todd coached. Lee and his four friends, the “Otto Eldred Fishing Club,” enjoyed time fishing and morning breakfasts, especially trips to Findley Lake. He was an avid Dodgers fan.
In addition to his wife, Lana, he is survived by a son, Todd L. Randall of Olean and Gwen (Lenny) Higby of Amherst; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; and four brothers, Phillip, James, Richard and Ronald.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Monday at Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean and from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 9, 2022) at Christ United Methodist Church in Olean. Pastor Bryan Garrett will preside. Burial will be in Mount View Cemetery.
