Loren D. Wilber, loving husband, father, and grandfather

Westons Mills – Loren D. Wilber, of Westons Mills, passed away Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Olean General Hospital surrounded by loving family.

Loren was born at home, on Church Rd. in Allegany, on August 11, 1939, the son of Oscar and Ethel Horton Wilber. On September 16, 1961, in Olean, he married the former Janet Randall, who survives.

Loren attended a one-room schoolhouse in Allegany and then Allegany Central School. He worked as a chemical operator for C F Industries until his retirement. Loren attended the Olean Community Church and was a connoisseur of weekend garage sales, and coffee with the guys and loved maintaining his yard.

No family or close friend left his presence without a loving hug. 

Loren is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janet; 2 sons, Randy (Linda) Wilber, and Lance Wilber, both of Portville; 2 daughters, Lori (Dan) Johnson of Portville and Karalee Wilber of Westons Mills; 7 grandchildren; Bryan, Meghin, Evan, Brooke, Rachel, Ryan and Hannah; 6 great-grandchildren, Christian, Kyler, Nora, Val, Mason, and Emilia; several nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Davey Cooper.

He was predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Ethel; 2 grandsons, Wesley Wilber, and Tyler Kvarness; 4 sisters, Vesta Cooney, Freda Vreeland, Jeanne Wilson, and Evelyn Pistner; 3 brothers, Bruce Wilber, Orville Wilber, and Duane Wilber.

At Loren’s request there will be no visitation, a memorial service is planned for a later date. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Five Mile Cemetery.
