Lucinda D. Capito

Cuba- Lucinda “Cindie” D. Capito, of 665 Linwood Drive, Cuba, passed away Friday (September 1, 2023) at her home after a long illness.

Born September 18, 1953, in Olean, she was the daughter of James and Roberta Cone Shields.  On July 13, 1974, at the former Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Portville, she married Christopher Capito, who survives.

Cindie worked for many years for the Olean General Hospital and later for the Southern Tier Anesthesiologist in Olean. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and attending her grandchildren’s softball games.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, no matter the occasion.

In addition to her husband, Cindie is survived by her son, Jimmy (Amy) Capito of Cuba; four grandchildren, Logan Capito, Brionna Carleton, Felecia (Roland) Thompson, and Faith Capito; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Jay (Carolyn) Shields of Shinglehouse, PA; two sisters, Mary Beth (Steven) Eaton of Allentown, and Laura Fuller of Cuba; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents and one brother, Billy Shields.

Private graveside services for Cindie will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
