Olean- Lyle D. Dickerson of 2739 W. River Road, Olean, passed away Saturday (November 19, 2022) at his home.
Born August 2, 1947, in Olean, he was the son of the late, Edmond and Averil Putnam Dickerson. He married the former Ronda Howard, who survives.
Lyle was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Pennsylvania. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1965-1969. He worked for Dresser Rand in Olean for 49 years, retiring in 2009.
He was an avid hunter and trapper. He enjoyed fishing, especially fly fishing and even made his own bugs and flies. Lyle also loved his dogs; Hollywood was a Grand Champion Bench Show Dog and his pride and joy. He also loved Button, Suzie Q, and the newest dog, Otto Flash.
In addition to his wife, Lyle is survived by; two sons, Kevin (Ronda) Dickerson and Dennis (Beth) Dickerson; one step-daughter, Carmelia (Duane) Adams; two steps-sons, Arlo (Roxanne) Anderson and Scott (Sheryl) Anderson; six grandsons; one granddaughter; one great-grandson; two step grandsons; four step-granddaughters; three brothers, Kenneth (Cathy) Dickerson, Clarence (Beth) Dickerson, and Christopher Dickerson; three sisters, Bonnie L. Allen, Kathleen (Lewis) Duell, and Chrystal Dickerson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by; one sister, Nancy L. Thomas; one brother, Isaac Dickerson; brother-in-law, Daniel Anderson; and sister-n-law, Lucy Dickerson.
Friends will be received at Epic Church, 411 W. Henley Street, Olean on Wednesday (November23, 2022) from 10am-11am. Funeral services will begin at 11am with military honors accorded by the Allegany American Legion Charles Harble Post 892. Rev. Chuck Maine, pastor of Epic Church will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. View Veterans Field of Honor.
