Margaret Cocchetto Obituary

“Loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother

Olean- Margaret M. Pezzimenti Cocchetto, of 842 Garden Avenue, Olean, passed away Monday (December 7, 2020) at the Olean General Hospital, with her family by her side.

Born February 5, 1924 in Olean, she was the daughter of the late, Frank and Mary Sabatino Pezzimenti.  On February 11, 1950 in St. John’s Church, she married Herman L. “Barney” Cocchetto, who predeceased her on September 4, 2011.

Marge was a graduate of Olean High School, class of 1941.  She worked at Stroehmann Bakeries and later for the former Bradner’s Department Store, before becoming a devoted mom to her children.

She was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Mary of the Angels Church for seventy years. She also volunteered there for many years, as her greatest joy was helping others.

Marge was a longtime New York Yankees Fan, and in her youth, a great softball player.

Surviving are three sons; Joseph Cocchetto of Olean, David (Linda) Cocchetto of Chapel Hill, NC, and Alan (Marlene) Cocchetto of Erie, PA; two grandchildren, Jessica (Jesse) Spanogle of Erie, PA and Nicholas Cocchetto of Brooklyn; four great-grandchildren Sophia, Isabella, Madeline, and Francis; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by; one sister, Isabella (Bernard) Bysiek and one brother, Francis “Bud” (Mary) Pezzimenti.

Visitation will be held at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State Street, Olean and will be private. Friends and family are invited to attend A Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday (December 12, 2020) at 10am at the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels. Rev. John Adams, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery.

Memorials if desired may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN., 38105, the Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels, 202 S. Union Street, Olean, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
